The attendance at this class baa shown an increase at each session held thus far. that of yesterday after noon being the largest one yet. The work given is of a very attractive sort, and is calculated to make a staid and dignified man of affairs feel like a 10-year-old boy in point of vigor and fun. CALL FOR CANDIDATES. A call has been sent out to prospec tive basket ball candidates to meet in the gymnasium Friday evening at S o'clock to begin preliminary work. It ig the intention to organize two or three utrong teams, any one of which will be able to represent the Y. M. C. A. in competition, and a series of games will be played with teams from outside. Several new men are in pros pect for places on theseteams. as well ' as a number of the old warhorses who 'will try to hold their places. The pros- I-o E. Stevens is the new assistant fcecretary at the Y. M. C. A. The board of directors, at their monthly meeting last night, made the appointment to fill the place left vacant by Mr. Hermann, who went to New York In September. Mr. Stevens has been acting as assist ant for the past few weeks, and the ac tion of the board last night waB to give official confirmation to his appoint ment. Other matters of regular business were disponed of by the board, among them being the announcement by Pres cient c. D. McLane of the standing committees, for the year. Mr. McLane did not fill out the committees, but an nounced the chairmen, with Instruc tions for each to make p hie own com mittee and report in the near future.
