The principal event of the evening was an address by William Butter worth of Moline on the Panama canal. Mr. Butterworth UFed a fine collection of stereopticon pictures to illustrate his account of personal observations on the canal, many of the pictures being from his own photographs. He displayed a thorough knowledge of conditions in Panama, and gave an il luminating description of the digging of the great canal. . The meeting of the club was a most enthusiastic one, giving good promise for the future work. There will be two more meetings during the pres ent season, one in April and one in May, before the suspension of activ ities for the summer.
