W. D. Webs r, our enterpricing mer
chant, is about to establish a training
track one mile east of town on a 40 acre
tract, which is as level as a floor. The
ground is beine surveyed today, and the
track and stabli s will soon be ready. Mr.
Webster has tlrcady several head of
promising youn; horses, and he added to
his stock toda? a fine three year old
stallion "J. 8. P.," purchased of Aid.
O. W. Negus of Rock Island. His
stables will be in charge of Mr. C. O
Handell, one if the most experienced
horsemen in the country, who will care
fully look after all horses placed in his
charge. It is not Mr. Webster' inten
tion to make hit track a race course or to
train horses for the turf, hut simply to
break colu and develop them into good
roadsters. Wister's training track is
sure of a good patronage, as several
horsemen in Hock Island, who have
heretofore Bent their horses to Oeneseo
and elsewhere, have signified their inten
tion of patronizing htm.
