A BRAVE GIRL.
Mow she Saved tlie ill mil Man l mm a
It was just at dusk in a gloomy section
of the street, says The Boston Commer
cial Bulletin, and the electric car was
rapidly approaching, its bell ringing rap
idly in sharp, quick peals of warning,
and the light in its front gleaming like a
great tierv eve as it came on.
Miss Tcndrart stood on the curbstone
waiting to cross, when alie noted a
round shouldered old man groping for
ward with stick in hand, apparent!) caa-
fiously feeling his way.
"A Mind man!'' gasped Miss T., "and
he will bo killed; will nobody sive him?''
She looked wildly to the right and left,
but no one of the male persuasion was
witbi4 rail. She shouted frantically to
the jsior blind man to conic hack, hut he
plildeil on unheeding. He had just
reached thetraek; tbefterj eyed monster
was approaching and would stretch him
a mangled corpse on the pavement. Not
a moment was to lie lout. Wild with
error and excitement she rushed for
ward, and, frantically throwing her
arms alamt him as be stood there fum
bling with his stick upon the very edge
of the track, drew him hack v. itii desper

them, and the man, struggling in her
grasp, turned Beroeiy and demanded:
'Wat d'yer mane squcezm' the life out

Mgllt to ho ashamed, the likes of a laddy
"Oh. my poor blind man. You are
saved!" gasped Miss T.
"Saved! Sure I'm glad I'm saved, but
who's callin' me Mind, wid a pair of eyes
I have shitiin' like a rat's in a dark cellar."
"But." stammered the female Samari
tan, "1 thoucht you were hlind and feel
ng your way across the street with your
sli. k and would he run over."
"Wld me stick!" said the man, look-
tPK at his iron pointed stall. Why, it's
the switchman 1 am, miss, ami it's to
push the rail and switch the car on to
the turnout that me stirk is for."
There was a (obdoed snicker in the
little group that had gathered, and as
the next car just then pnlled up Miss T.
got in to avoid further explanations of
ihe switchman respecting the interrup
tion of his duties.

A Good Appetite
is essential to good health . but at this
aeason it is often lost, owing to the pov
erty or impurity of the blood, derange
ment of the digestive organs, and the
weakening effects of the changing sea
son . Hood's Barsaparilla is a wonderful
medicine for creating an appetite, toning
tbe digestion, and giving strength to the
whole system . Now is the time to lake
it. Be sure to get Hood's Sarsapartlla.
Tell your wife she looks well in her
new hat, and rest assured that your din
