June 2. Tbe council met in special
. session at 8 p. m., Mayor WcConocbie
presiding, and all the aldermen present
except III. The minutes of the last reg
ular and subsequent special meetings
were read and approved. Officers' re
port for tbe month of May were read
and ordered place on file. Alderman
Scbroeder, from tbe finance committee,
reported an ordinance wbicb was unani
mously adopted allowing bills out of the
various funds as follows.

Alderman Schroeder moved that the
fire and light committee be authorized to
purchase the Wideawake Hose company's
Harness at f 50 ir deemed aivisable. Car
ried. The clerk read a proposition from the
Brush Electric Light Co. to sell the elec
trie tower on Seventeenth street for 9500.
The proposition was rejected on motion
of Alderman Knox.
The clerk read a proposition from M.
Schnell to take down the Brush Electric
light tower, with guarantee, for $250.
Alderman Corken moved that the propoi

Co. consent. Referred to the mayor and

Alderman Knox, from the street and
alley committee, recommended that the
council condemn the dilapidated building
on iigbteentQ street owned by Thomas
Plummer, and a motion was adopted in
structing tbe city clerk to notify the
owner to cause its immediate removal.
Alderman Knox reported a plat of Mc
Master's second addition, but there being
a defect, action was deferred. Also a
plat of Gregg's addition, which was ac
cepted by unanimous vote. Also a plat
of Rodman's addition which was accept
ed. Bids were opened for the filling ordered
on Fourth avenue and Fifteenth street.
The bids were by Winslow Howard, 89
cents per cubic yard; Thomas Downing,
40c; Theodore Frey, 38c; Stephen O'Con
nor, 37 J The bid of Stephen O'Connor
for eartb filling was accepted, on motion
of Alderman Corken. A proposition of
S. O'Connor for macadam for $1.25 was
referred to the street and alley commit
tee, tocether with various informal sug
gestions for other street work, tbe filling
of Thirteenth street north of Fourth ave
nue, to be with powet to act. Alderman
Tindall presented an ordinance for the
construction of a sewer from Forty
fourth street and tbe alley south of Eighth
avenue, to Brooks' crosinsr. Referreil

nance for the construction of a sewer on
