"Best & Goes Farthest-Largest Sale in theWorid-Once Tried, Always Used "
are household words all over Europe. Now that the manufacturers are drawing the attention of
the American public to this first and, ever since its invention, the best, of all cocoas, it will soon be
appreciated here as well as elsewhere all over the world. All that the manufacturers request is
simply one trial, or still better a comparative test with whatever other cocoa it may be ; then Van
Houten's Cocoa itself will convince every one of its great superiority in strength, flavor and
economy. The English hign-class paper Health says : "None of the numerous cocoashave as yet
equalled this inventor's in rolubility, agreeable taste and nutritive qualities." It is a strongthener of
the Iierres, and a refreshing beverage. Superior to tea and coffee and having no injurious effects.
Ask for Van Houten's and take no other. 3

to our informant that a protective turill

great many articles that we otherwise,
could do? Blaine says that we now
want a foreign market for our manufac

to the South American stales and to
Europe in greater quantities? It is not
because our protective trilT has made our
goods too high priced which enables Eng

C. II. Brandenburg, our painter, has
just returned from Henry county where
he has been beautifying ex Represcnta
tive Paddleford's new residence, and re
ports Hinman's election for senator a
forepone conclusion. The citizens of
lenry county appreciate his excellent
al ties and predict a new era for legis

the best ticket placed ia the field for a

Sept. 1 the Feoria Journal had a two
column article on the political issues of
the Eleventh district, and has some very
racy points in the fact that Congressman
Gest will have a veritable Waterloo, and
in conclusion the heelers who worked so
ardently for Gest's nomination have in
augurated a mud campaign. They
started it through their local paiw-r
the Rock Island Union, August 24.
But it bus proven a boomerang,
it has tied them up soul and body, and
"One Who Knows" performed the work
which puts Gest in deep water. What a
sad plight it has placed them in. The
voters of the Eleventh congressional dis
trict will p ace themselves upon record
looking to a mag that, is a representative
man, not a representative who needs a
regular standing delegstion to pet
through congress anything of any conse
quence. It is a forgone conclusion that
the voters of the Eleventh district will
place their confidence in Ben T. Cable.
The voters of Black Hawk are unani
mous that Mr. Cable is for legislation
that best protects our citizens; legislation
that will put life into all industries. His
knowledge of onr agricultural industry
will always command his support.
