One of the most charming and attrao

been their baby exhibitions. There seems
to be a demand on the part of a number
of persons to have another display of

connected with the coming fair and fes
tiTai. Arrangements hare accordingly

take place Tuesday afternoon. Msy 5.
at 3 p. m.. in the Rock Island rink. Mr.
Ramser, the champion jeweler, will pro-
vice a Deauwui gold watch, hunter s
case, Elgin works, as the premium for the
Handsomest child two Tears old and
under according to the judgment of the
committee chosen for this purpose. Mr.
Ramter, the children's friend, will also
furnish a beautiful plated chain for each
cbi d whose name will be entend as t
competitor for the beautiful premium.
As it is to hard for a committee to de
cide among so many beautiful children,
Clcmann & Salzmann, the popular furni
tuie and carpet dealers, have contributed
as a second premium a lovely baby car
riage. The names of all the children to
be entered as.competitora must be banded
in accompanied with 50 cents as entrance
fee, by April 29, giving time to ee
cure as tuany chances as may be
needed before the day of exhi
bition. A beautiful gold watch as a
first premium, now to be seen in the win
dow at Ramser's jewelry store. A loyely
baby carriage as a second premium now
on exhibition at Clemann & Salzmann e

of James Reed, of Cable, arrived here to
day. He had been ailing for over a year.
He was over 20 years a resident of this
place and was a boss in tbe Cable mines
when in full blast, over a dozen of years.
He moved to Cable last year, built a
house and bad just got settled when tbe
end came. Tbe deceased was a native of
England. He leaves a wife and three
children, Thomas Ried. of Cable, Mrs.
Peter Brown and Mrs. Fred Haiuh. He
was prominent in the Odd Fellows and a
member of the Masonic fralermtr.. Rev
W. B. McKee, ot Milan, officiated at
the Presbyterian church. The ceremonies
at tbe cemetery were under tbe Masonic
Miss Irene Peters is home on a vacation
from her school in Bureau countv.
Daniel Lloyd is suffering from kidney
diseases. He is over 80 years of age.
Dr. Huston is having a busy time for
