Claims have been allowed against the
estate of Barley Davenport to the amount
of $30,000, in the circuit court at Daven

wood, 111., is the guest of Rev. O. W.
Gue. Mr. Frizzell formerly resided in
Rock Island. He delivered the oration at
the county soldiers' monument this morn
ing and preaches at the First M. E. church
On Friday next the Augustana Ora
torio society will give a steamboat excur
sion to Muscatine. Prof. O. Olsoa will
deliver an address and music will be ren
dered by the society assisted by the col
lege band. A short stop will be made at
Muscatine for dinner. A good time is an
ticipatid, and everyone is invittd to at-,
tend. Boat will leave the Rock Island
landing at 9:30 a m. sharp.
The Eunice Goodrich company pres
sented "The Little Countess ' at Harper's
theatre last evening be fore the largest
audience that has greeted the txceilent
company durics; its present engagement.
This afternoon "Little Red Riding Hood'"
was pven for a matinee, and tListveoira
the company gives at its farewell the ex
cruciatingly funny farce-comedy, "Three
ives to One Husband."
The Alumni association of Augustana
college will five its sixteenth annual lit
erary entertainment in the college chapel
next Wednesday evening, June 2, at 8
p.m. The committee on arrangements
has spared no pains in making prepara
tions for what it expects will be a very
pleasant and highly instructive entertain
ment as miy be seen from the programme.
This will consist of two addresses, both
in the English language "What Shall
