A force of workmen employed by the
Central street railway company, of Mo
line, struck yesterday forenoon. They
were engaged in loading and unloading
cars of earth. The men say that tbe
cau?e for the strike was that President
W. R. Moore had complained of the
length of time taken for that purpose.

be loaded and unloaded in 10 minutes,
or about six minutes less time than had
been taken. They demanded an increase
of wage3 from $1 50 to 1.75 a day, and
threatened to quit at noon if the demand
was not complied with. Mr. Moore told
them that if that was the case they could

dirt from their shovels and placed them
in the tool boxes.
