the robbery and Leslie was discharged.
Scbur.ben's testimony was almost worth
less in tbe cae at the best owing to the
contradictory statements he had made
about the robbery. He was too drunk
at tbe linie t know what was going
on. Allen having plead guilty of re

Do Not be Deceived.
Persons with weak lungs those who
are constantly catchirg cold should
wear an Allcock's Porous Plaster over the

they always strengthen and never weaken

catching plant snaps v,p a fly and draw

one fed itself on the Ugs of mutton and
sirloins of Ixff which were thrown into its
ravening maw. The botanist in the story,
for some reason possibly fear of havict:
his plant destroyed as dangerous to public
safety keeps the existence of tne plant a
secrer, and preserves it in a locked tip con
servatory. His wife, however, who is
made miserable by his ahsorbtion of mind
he thinks of nothing but how to feed
and improve his wonderful and fascinat
ing plant determines to follow him. This
she does, accompanied by an old school
friend of the liu-band.
When the pair reach the inner conserva
tory they see, to their hornr. the infatu
ated bot.mi-t tossing Weeding joints of
raw meat into the huge jaws of a giant fly
trap. They are at first pctrih'i-d with hor
ror. At tat. however, the wife throws
herself into the anus of her husband and
implores him to give up dwelling upon the
horrihle carnivorous monstrosity which he
has discovered and reared. Unfortunately,
however, the wife, in appealing to her hus
band, goes too close to the plant. Its
huge tentacles surround her and then pro
teed to drag her in. and the two stupefied
men see the plant begin to devour its vic
tim. Fortunately, however, the friend catches
sight of an ax lying rear, and seizing this
he strikes at the r.ots of the plant. A few
frenzied blow do the necessary work, and
the rieh eat ins plant tumbles to the ground
and releases from its clutches the terrified
woman. The botanist, however, cannot
survive his most cherished discovery, and
with ihe exclamation. "You have killed
my plant:"' he falls back dead. London
