The peace 1 1 body and soul which
George Jacob Schweinfurth, the rahe
Christ, is now supposed to be enjoying at
his "Mount Zion." near Rockford, fs
ereatly imperiled. It is quite likely, in
fact, that the wrath of one of his victims
will soon be poured out upon him in such
wholesale quantities as to make bis so
called "heaven" an abode of a far differ
ent character from that which is generally
understood by the term.
There hs been filad in the circuit
court by Hill & May, attorneys, a precipe
bill in the case of George W. Coudrey vs
George Jacob Schweinfurth. alias Cnrisf
Rev. William Buldwin, alias an apostle'
and Francis Ward, alius an apostle. Mr,
Coudrey, who lives at No 144 North Ktd
zie avenue, sues for $50,0(;0 damages for
the alienation of bis wife's and chi'dren's
affections, allegicg that Stthweicfurlh.
with his so-called apostles, has been guil
ty of conspiracy and questionable prac
tices in the carrying out of bis ill s:gns.
The story as told last.cvetiit.g by Lis at
torneys. Hill & May, is as fo'lows:
"In the year 18S4 Schweinfurth with
his followers first came in contatt with
Mr. Coudrey's family while soliciting
proselytes from house to house. In the
course of time Mrs. Coudrey accepted the
new faith and forced ler beliefs upon
the children. There ure five children in
the family, as follows: Norma, aged
about 21, ard a teacher at Central music
hall; Msybelle, aged 1C; George, aged 15,
Jessie. aed IS; and Grtsce. aged 10.
"After edopting the new views Mrs.
Coudrey left her home from lime to time
and visited the 'heavens, 'known as Mount
r n . . . . .
..on, near uocKtord, lii., rini',inmg
there for weeks at a time. Dec. S4
lust fchc left for such a visit at:d b8
not jet returned. But even while
living in tun city the freq jently
went to the Bethel tome at No. 1309
Wolfram street, where the Rev. Wil
liam Dildwin. one of Sehweinfurth's
followers, weekly preaches a sermon and
reads an inspired writing from Oiirisit.
Oa one occasion when the husband's sus
picions were aroused he went to Bethel
house atd demanded to see his wife. He
was told that s$ e was not there by both
Baldwin and Ward. He remained in
wailing, however, on the outside, atd
wis rewarded at length by seeing his wife
"While living at home Mrs C.iuJrey
received three or four lei'ers each week
from 'Christ' whirh were" addressed to
her at the Bethel home or in care of her
daughter. Norma, a'. CeDtral Music hall.
As an example of one of the leiters the
foilowicg may be q-iottd. It is in
Schwtinfurth's own handwriting and ad
dressed to Mrs. Coudrey.

my rare jewels.' Grace to thee and peace
be multiplied. Your words came to my
hand in due time As I traced your lines
and tnus followed along the tortuous patb
of the life now past an offering of devout
thanksgiving ascended from my heart to
God. I praised GoJ for not letting you
miss the 'straight gite which lcadeth unto
life.' Here you are inside the gate and
now are making your way up the steps of
light. Blessed one, the past is passed and
forgotten, wiped out of God's book of re
membrance. So. now, ransomed, healed,
restored, forgiven, 'evermore her praise
"I fctti suTe that henceforth acd forever
you will stand a glad witness unto the re
deeming power of love of our blessed and
Clorious Christ. If you find that you
have to suffer some of the deeds done in
the bedy, don't be at all diiictcd for
that; but come on rtioicing; all the
while knowing that everything belonging
to the old must come to a perpetual ejd.
Suffer gladly what Gd lays upon you to

goodness is giving your children
to you. You have been longing for the
true and pure ail the while. God knew
it, and so sent his Christ to save you and
to bring you home. The desire of your
heart is fulfilled by God's Christ.
'I am too weary to write much, but
felt that J must sresk a word to jour

from you again as soon as you are mind
