board wore Mr. Rhodes, superintendent
of motive power, William Forsyth. Mas
ter Mechanic Joel West, of Burlington,
Supt. C. Q. Wil on. of the. Iowa lines,
and Asititant Master Mechanic Foster, of
Galesburg. The train was considerably
behind t me, as to the cause of which the

coil, so that the exhaust nozzle, smoke
stack, netting and crates are not - suited
for the uw of soft coal. Oa the trip

was that only a small fire could be
put in the engine. When tbe train
started out the engine pulled all the
Ore through tbe smoke stack, asd when
Riverside was reached, a stop had to
be made i.nd a new Ore kindled. This
stop consumed over half an hour. From
Riverside to Galetburg the train made
good time, and at some points tan at the
rate of 62 miles an hour. Oa tbe return
trip this morning 10 coaches were at
tached to the train, and they were started
off as if there had been only one. At
Aurora the engine will be sent to tbe
shops an 1 some changes made, after
which it will be given another trial, and
will be sent on one or two trips down the
ljuincy or inch.

came to their rescue, otherwise they would
