Milton and Dolly Nobles In Their New
Way, ForfRevenue Only" Dockatader
Miltoa and Dolly Nobles gave their
first presentation in Rock Island last
night of their uew play, "For Revenue
Only." The production is of the comedy
order, and the lines are from the pen of
Mr. Nobk: who has already contributed
some of the btst gems of modern times
to stage art. Uaiike most of his former
plays Mr. Nobles assumes a ctr.edv role
in hia play, which is a political palire,
the star appearing ai Tom Knowaii, a
newspaper reporter, and acts the p-j.rt to
perfection, white hia charming wife,
D.illy Nobles Lhs a chHrdcter exactly
fi:ted to her own sweet ways. The other
impersonations are well conceived and as
admirably chnracterized. "For ltevtnue
Only" is a success, and it may be boptd
tht Rock Island may witrjess it agiin
when a crowded houss will greet the fav
orite actor and author, and his gifted
Ioektailer'K M last rels.
Lew Docksiader's famous minstrels are
to appear tonight at the Burtis at Daven
pott. It is just to say the entertainment
given by this company is always first
class and never excelled by any other
minstrel organization, though many
make more pretentious claims. The
music generally is of a high order, the
solos and choruses are admirable and
the varied diversion of the second part is
made up of really enjoyable specialties.
The comedians of the company have
made a commendable endeavor this sea
son to provide new material and the an
nouncement is made that an entirely new
programme will be given. Lew's lead ing
associates in fun are George Powers,
Johu C II rringu-.n, Fale and Semocs,
Wra. Iiowc, the Columbia Qiartefe,
Blocksom and Burns, ei.nht solo sincera
and a large and carefully trained chorus.
In giving the list we must not forget
Frank Dnmont. who has the sobriquet
of "The Minstrel Shakespeara." Mr.
Dumont's two funoy sketches, "The
Cuke Walk" and "Rustic Anna," are said
to be very litui;hible an 1 no doubt will
prove as bripht and pleasing as anything
in the long and Vrilliant programme.
