Davenport will be pointed by the dem ocrats tonight. Tne democrats of Mercer county cele brate tomorrow night. Tbe democrats of Moline bad a grand ratification and demonstration oc Satur day niebt. The marching clubs of that place, headed by a band, marched through the principal streets, which were illuminaUd for the occasion and cele brated the victory in true democratic stvle. At Hampton on Saturday night a orcblight parade and martial music, with every democratic store and resi dence in the little town illuminated, pro claimed democracy's grand triumph. In today's issue of Thb A bods appears the official tabulation of the voie in tbe county at the late election. In the Sev enth ward in this city the republican gain was perhaps the most marked. At Coal Valley the democrats made a bet ter showing than in any of tbe outside townships. The strength of the A P. A. in favor of the republicans ia shown on the vote for attorney general, where Maurice T. Maloney, the democratic, can didate fell considerably behind bis ticket. The vote for congreseman, however, shows a gratifying result, Mr.Plantz hav ing run ahead of his ticket, not only in Rock Island county, but in every county in tbe district. Pollee 1'oLuts, Liuis Partridge got into a little iiffi- culty with two or three men at the cor ner of Eighteenth street and First avenne yesterday morning and in about three miuutes he had driven the enemy from its position and held undisputed sway until the arrival of the patrol wagon. He was locked up at the Armory and today taken before Magistrate Wivill, who gve him a fine of $5 and costs. Frank Barkman and Emma Brown were run in by the police yesterday for appearing on tbe street in a hilarious condition. Magistrate Wivill imposed a floe of $5 and costs each and they were released. The case of A. B. Johnson, of the Crown restaurant, charged with assault with intent to commit murder by Attor ney John Looney, came up for hearing this morning before Magistrate Wivill and was taken ugder advisement by tbe court. Congrersman Ben T, Cable, chairman of the western branch of tbe democratic national committee, to whose energy, untiring zeal and generalship is attrib uted tbe marvelous triumph of the de mocracy in the west and northwest, in cluding the startling political revolution in Illinois, arrived from St. Louis this morning and is spending the day in the city. He goes east Iod gbt expecting to visit Washington and New York before his return. Since putting foot on tin ground of bis home citv Mr. Cable ha been the recipient of overwhelming con gratulations on every hand over tbe sue cees and distinction that has attended his work, politically. The peoole of Rock Island are justly proud of their con gressman and citizen, and they have not been slow to show it today. ' Converses on the Results. Mr. Cable lakes his honors with chai acteristic and becomicg modesty. Wbile in The Arods office a reporter sought an cxDression from him on tbe various matters with whih bis name has been associated in relation to the coming ad ministration, but be was averse to con versing on the subject. "Tae result," be Raid, "is all the reward I asked for, not only in the satisfaction it affords mr, but in tbe character of the expressions of congratulation and appreciation that I have received." Then for a morrent Mr. Cable talked enthusiastically over the victories in the northwestern states Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois. "There is no doubt." he remarked, "that the republicans nude their best efforts in all these states. They fought hard to save them. They put forth their best endeavor, and we naturally leel an tne more elated over the returns in our favor." "I very much regret," remarked Mr Cable, "tbe defeat of Truman Plant for congress, but an exceedingly gratified that be should have run as well as he did.
