Suicide of a Knight of Honor.
Birmingham, Ala., March 13. John G.
Hastings, of Port Gibson, Miss., commit
ted suicide at the Metropolitan hotel with
a revolver. He was an organizer for this
district of the Knights of Honor, and had
been here several days on that business.
The left nothing to indicate the cause of
the deexl. He was nearly 60 years old and
left a wife aud several children.

CoRYDON. Ind., March 13. Samuel and
William Conrad were arrested and placed in
jail here Saturday on the charge of mur
dering their father, Edward Conrad, in
Boone township, this county. Their father
was 70 years old, and was found lying in
the woods with his skull crushed Friday.
The alleged motive of the young men was
to get possession of their father's estate.

saved the First National bank of
Catawissa, Pa., from being looted
Saturday. Burglars were at work on

cashwhen John Hulshizer's pig got loose
and ran down the street squealing with
some mea after it. The robbers thought
they had been discovers! and rushed out
of the bank.
San Francisco, March 13. Policemen
Cashin and Ely discovered two burglars
robbing a safe in a saloon in West Oak
land early Saturday morning and fired on
them as they attempted to escape. The
fire was returned. Cash in Ix-ing shot
through the bady and dangerously
wounded. Ely then tired and killed one of
i,he thieves. The other one escaped.

CHICAGO, March 13. William H. Mun
derloh died nt the Great Northern hotel yes
terday. Munderloh represented the German
empire at Montreal as consul. He was also
president of the board of trade in that city.
March 1 he left Canada 011 a trip to Cali
fornia to visit his tw o suns. On reaching
this city Munderloh was stricken with

flagration at Sellyvillc, a suburb of Hones
dale, yesterday, in which William Ryan's
dwelling was destroyed.his brother-in-laiv,
Thomas Kane, a Delaware and Hudson
railroad employe, was burned to death.

ing her escape from the house.
