Kindt, of the Burtis opera house, at Davenport, is determined to provied amusement for the public of the tri-cities in sum mer as well as in winter. Last sum mer through his energy and efforts a splendid season of summer opera was enjoyed. Owing to the fact that the opera house is being extensively overhauled this summer, such a sea son of amusement was impossible. Therefore Mr. Kindt has made ar rangements with Capt. McCatlrey whereby he becomes manager of that palatial excursion steamer, the Char lotte Boeckler, and proposes to pro vide delightful enjoyment in that line. She has lately been overhauled and brightened up, and is indeed a luxurious and safe vessel. Her al lowed carrying capacity is 425 per sons, who can comfortably be taken care of. The cabin stateroom is 3'tx 1G0, and is provided with an excel lent dancing tloor. Otto's orchestra of 25 pieces will accompany the ex cursions to furnish the enlivening strains. Manager Kindt proposes to rtin a series of subscription concert excur sions, for which commutation books, containing 12 tickets, will be sold for $3. These excursions will be to dif ferent points and will no doubt prove popular and enjoyable. The boat will also be at the ser vice of societies and parties for ex cursions, ami Mr. Kimtt win always be pleased to give all information and make arrangements therefor. Ail Important .Mltriian. Rev. M. A. Head, presiding elder of Rock Island district, has been ap pointed as a member of a special commission to locate the seat ot the next session of the general confer ence ot the Methodist Kpiscopal church. He starts, on Monday next. to visit Saratoga, N. Y.; Cleveland. O. ; Detroit, Mich.; Indianapolis, Ind.. and Chicago, on a tour of inspection. All these cities have extended an ia vitation to entertain the next session of the general conference. He will be absent for nearly three weeks. His family will join him at Chicago, upon his return to that citv, where they ill take in the sights of the jrreat city. The Rock Island district camp- meetitig will be held at iindals grove, beginning August 21. and continuing until August 211. Rev. A. 1). Traveler, superintendent of missions in Chicago, has been en gaged to conduct the revival meet ings of the camp-meeting, and Rev. Jessie Underwood, the singing evan gelist, has been engaged to lead the singing. Both of these gentlemen are camp meetings within themselves, and so a great time is anticipated. The Indies.
