turned Monday from Chicago, after
a week's sight seeing at the World's

weeks visiting relatives and the
Mrs. Laura Ziegler and daughters,
Maud and Hattie of Rock Inland, are
visiting her sister, Mrs. James

Dr. K. K. Rogers departed for the

D. S. Metzgar and daughter, Mrs.
M. B. Denlinger, of Omaha, returned

Mrs. George B. Henry, of Hamp
ton, came up today and weut out
with Dr. Block to see her siste Mrs.
William Michaels, who has been sick
for some time.
W. Simpson went to Moline Mon
thly to get a boilermaker to overhaul
and get his steam thresher in readi
ness for threshing grain which will
soon be commenced.
Frank Garnett was appointed post
master lure last Friday, lie intends
taking possession of -the office July 1.
His appointment was received here
with general satisfaction.
A. F. Hollister and family started
for Chicago Monday to take in the
World's fair. This'is Mr. Hollister" s
second trip. He will meet his daugti
ter, Mrs. Dr. L. Gulden, of Kansas,
Mrs. William Xichoidson had the
misfortune fo falJ while coming down
her hack stairs this afternoon. lr.

cart attached took a lively run down
Main street Tuesday noon. After

run up the hill, getting loose from
the cart by breaking the harness, but

Mr. and Mrs. Derwood Dan by ar
rived here to visit their parents, a

to see the Columbian exposition.
He is professor in a school in the
western part of Minnesota.
Dr. William Myers, of western
Iowa, is here. He has been at Phil
adelphia and Louisville. At the lat
ter place he spent live weeks as a
post-graduate in the hospital. He
will return to his lield of practice in
a few days.
