started its machinery this morning
after the summer shut down, giving
employment to 250 men. "All the
departments have" been started but
the paint shop and it will most likely
start in a day or two, ". said Superin
tendent Kerns to a reporter this
morning. "The foundry depart
ment has 25 moulders, besides the
other labor employed. The force
will be increased steadily as business
picks up until the works are running
full force again.'"

One of the most singular products
of Hawaii is a vitrous lava known as
