Emest Anderson and Frank L. Schultz attended the meeting of the County Board of Com missioners at the County Seat Tuesday. Mrs. E. S. Judv called on the S. A. Monday and had the paper sent to her daughter Mrs. K. S. Snow and Major Snow at Colum bia, S. Carolina, Mrs. Snow was formerly Miss Gladys Judy. Christmas shoppers were in Roy from all parts of the mesa trading with the advertís ing merchants. Eligió Martinez, brother of Manuel Martinez. Secretary of State, died at Tucumcari last Wednesay and was buried at the Tucumcari Cemeterv the follow- in? dav. Mr. Martinez home was v " in the southwestern part of Harding County and he was con nected with his father and broth ers in the ranch and cattle busi ness. He was a member of one of the prominent families of this county and will be sadly missed in the community in which he lives. County . Finding of persons guilty of breeches of the elections laws is not popular in the suggestions thus far received by the state Chairman. Prison sentences, however, are urged m virtually everv communication. Prosecution of police and oth er officers of the. law who as sumed active political party work on election day is sugges ted. This would make it.'impos- sible for officers of the law to beworkers at polling places. To assure seclrecy of the bal lot, manv residents of the state would have the corrupt practices act contain a provision raking all booths loursided. A curtain should be hung over the intrance it is maintained, so that no one could see a voter marking his or her ballot. . ' On offering suggestions on the primary bill to be presented to the legislature, several citi zens have urged adoption of the clause in some bills which is des ignated to prevent party raids. This article in some states' laws compels registeration by - party and in the primary election, the ticket of the party to which the voter designated allegience when registering is the only one given.
