-A debating club was organized
at Fort Motte on Oct. roth. Thc
question, "lie it resolved that women
should have the right to vote," was j
ably discussed by S. L. Duncan, chief1
on the affirmative, and Geo. W.
Brown, chief on the negative, fol
lowed h}' other disputants. By a
vote of the society Hie question was
decided in favor of Hie affirmative.
-A boy about sixteen years old,
who was stealing a ride on the cars,
was severely injured on Thursday
night at thc depot. Ile wa3 riding
upon the bumper between the freight,
cars and fell upon the track*. As the I
cars were running very slowly ho was
rolled oil' the track without tue wheels
passing over Iiis legs, but ono of them
was fearfully lacerated. Ho is now
at the poor houso and doiiig as well
as could bo expected.
-An old employee of thu S. C.
R. lt., named Robert Winter, was
killed by the cars at Jamison's la '
Monday night. A he ttie ol' whiskey
near where the body was found, indi
cated that Winter had been drinking
