- The picnic at Coxe's Spring on
Friday last, was a splendid success

one put in.
- The report that Mr. Ebby Fletcher,
ol Beauty Spot section, had been shot by
an assassin, on Thursday afternoon last,
turns out, we are glad to say, a story
without foundation. Mr. Fletcher was
in town on Friday morning looking well
as ever, and was astonished at the effort
of sonic fertile brain to get up a sensation,
Lambeth's Turnip Seed.

DEATH'S DOINGS.
Died on Tuesday evening (July 19th)
alter a long and distressing illness, Mr.
Sidney A. Marshal-the last one of a
family ot four, three of whom died July
1886. Ile was taken sick at that time
and.has never recovered. He will be
buried at Pinewood Cemetery t?-day.
Died on Saturday last, after a pro?,
tracted illness, MRS. MARGARET ODOM,
wile of Thomas Q. Odom-aged about
45 years. Yes, a mother in Israel has
fallen ! In her death Ebenezer Church,
Clio Circuit, loses one of it's most iaith
lui working members, the community a
good neighbor, a kind hearted christian
woman that delighted in doing good.
She was laid to rest at Pee Dee Church,
on Sunday morning. Bev. W. K.
Breeden conducting the funeral sermon.
Died on last Saturday afternoon, in
Brightsville, after a long illness, in her
80th year, Mus. ELIZABETH LILES, con
sort of the late Holden Liles, and the
sainted mother of Messrs. Joseph R.,
James S. and Benjamin R. Liles. The
funeral services were held at Bruton's
Fork Baptist Church on Sunday alter*
noon, and were conducted by thc pastor,
Rev. J. A. W. Thomas, assisted by Rov.

yesterday at 10 o'olook, when his swcot,

heavenly homo. Jimmie waa a noble young
man, with many traits of oharacter that
endeared him to all who knew bim. Ho
will bo buried at tho family burying
ground to-day,
As wc go to press we learn that Mr.
Townsend, a tenant ol Mrs. A. Crosland
and who lost a child on Friday last, will
bury the mother and faithful wile to-day.

county ol Robeson, N. C.
Died at Clio, on Saturday night last,
after a short illness, MRS. MARY ANN
SALMONDS, wife ol Mr. T. O. Salmonds.
She was buried at Hebron on Sunday.
The many friends ol Mr. John G.
Hubbard sympathize with his family in
the loss ol a dear little child on Sunday
last,
