Grand Mai? Meeting.
The mass meeting of farmers
and all interested in the Cotton
Association called for Monday
was a large and enthusiastic one
and the addresses were fall of
interest as to plans for the next
ear's work. The truth is now
awning that the planters hold
tho keys to the industrial pros
perity of the south, and all that
Is necessary is to organize and
stand tirm. Just think* cotton
is now worth $20 a bale more
than it was a year ago. The
work already done by the Asso
ciation has won the admiration
of the world, and this is glory
worth preserving and stimulus
to greater efforts to go forward
in this grand work of benefiting
all classes of our people.
The Association reorganized
with the election of the follow

hasty congratulations and hurried
good-byes, the happy couple were'
oscortcd to tho B. & C. depot where
they took the north bound traiu for
their home at Portsmouth.
An elegant reception was given
tho young couple on Wednesday
night before, at which was present
many frionds from this and o thor
towns. Mrs Hattie McCormao, of
Maxton, assisted in receiving tho
guests, while a bevy of young; ladies
assisted in tho dining roora where
elegant refreshments were served.
The reception lasted from 8 to ll.
The bride, who has many friends,
was tho recipient of many handsome
and useful presents aB tokens of the
high esteem in which she was held.
