Death of R. J Cannon
ROBKHT J. CANNON was the son cf
Mr. Robert R. Cannon, and was born in
Darlington county in the year 1842.
When a young man he came to Marl

South Carolina Temperance Advocate,
then published in Bennettsville. After
wards he was connected with the Times,
and then with the Marlborough Planter,
under Col. CW. Dudley.
He married while herc Miss Toland
McCully, of Columbia. From Bennetts
ville he went to Florida and lived there
several years, mid then bc returned to
Brownsville, in this county, where he
was living at the time of his death.
He left one child, now living in Wash
ington, and one grand child, Lucile Can
non, of Bennettsville. Robert Cannon
bad a good mind which he improved by
general reading and close observation.
He was always industrious, and whatever
he undertook to do he did with all his
might. Ile was modest and retiring in
bis disposition, very positive in his con
victions, and had a big heart. To his
friend? he was open and confiding. To
those who did not know him well or did
not enjoy his friendship he appeared
cold and austere. In his association with
his fellow-men he was always pleasant
and entertaining. He may have had his
j faults bkc all men, but these were always
patent to thc world, und he made no at
