til tho September term of the court.
The fact that so- ninny convictions
have resulted will very likely have a
good effect upon the Illegal sale of
whiskey in Anderson county. In
each case Where sentences have hoon
made thc defendants has been required
to pay $100 or servo 90 days on the
county gang or in (he state penitenti
ary. Such punishment is calculated
to put a stop to the operation of

Found in the Woods.
A dispatch from Greenville to The
News and Courier says a white wo
man named Lillian Smith was found
in the woods, near Monaghan Mill,
Friday morning. Deputy Sheriff Hal
longer received a telegrom early in
the morning to the effect Hutt ther
was a wild woman in the woods, and
he Immediately left for the scene.
