This Company was incorporated under the laws of the State of New Jersey,
for the purpose of constructing a canal system by taking water from the Color-
ado River, in San Diego county, California, and utilizing the same for irrigating
a large tract of arid land in San Diego county, conveying the water to such, land
through Lower California ; also for irrigating a large tract of laud in Lower Cal-

In order to place this extensive system on a mutual basis, in conformity with
the laws of California, this Company endorsed the plan of furnishing 'water only
to mutual water companies, incorporated to furnish water to stockholders only. at
cost. The main canal system was so far completed that t it ; was able , to ; furnish
water to be delivered to lands south of Imperial by the 15th day of. June, 1901.
Within two years from that date there had been constructed about FIVE HUN-
DRED MILES of canal in the distributing systems and there had been mutual
water company stock purchased by settlers for ; about . 200,000 acres., of land ; se-
cured by them from the Government under the Desert Land and Homestead laws. |
No water is furnished by this company for use in the ; United States, except j
that supplied to Imperial Water' Companies for the uniform price of : fifty cents j
per acre foot, under contract for perpetual delivery at that price. ( . . :
NO OTHER APPLICATIONS FOR WATER ARE CONSIDERED. r
