II. llaukins was last week in stallcd as aent for the Rocky Moun tain Route at Ute Park. The depot and freight house are completed, and the ice houses will be ready for stor age in a short time. For the present the tie train which is working be tween Cimarron and Ute Park is do ing the local freight and passenger business, but in a short time trains No. I and 2 will be run to Ute Talk. MEATS ARE CHEAP IN CIMARRON Ceo. II. Webster of the Uracca ranch, has just contracted to furnish meat for the l.ittrtll and Livingston meat market. Choice meats are cheaper in Cimarron than in any oth r town in the United States. People in the eat who are paying eighteen to twenty-five cents per pound for choice ruts would be surprised to learn that "T-Bone" steaks are twelve and one-half cents per pound in Ci marron. And the native meats of th Cimarrón country arc the finest in the world. WILL MOVE TO CIMARRON. Donald Freasc, operator for the Rocky Mountain, will move to Cimar ron this week. Mr. Frease was for merly an operator in the dispatcher's office of the Santa Fe at Raton. The handsome cottage of Mr. T. R. Nance has been completed, and is ready for occupancy. WORK ON ROUNDHOUSE PROGRESSING RAPIDLY The work on the shops and round house is progressing nicely, the men losing no time on account of bad weather. The shops arc being en closed rapidly, and will soon be ready for the machinery, a great deal of which is here in the yards awaiting installation. The turn table pit is completed and the machinery for this will be put in shortly. Material is on the ground for the coal chutes, and the construction gangs will soon com mence work on these. CIMARRON'S STOCK SHIPPING FACILITIES Cimarron people arc proud of the facilities of the town for the shipping and handling of cattle. The railroad stockyards are large and convenient, and are strongly built, with all the modern conveniences. The capacity, of course, must be large, as this is the very center of the greatest cattle country of the southwest. Ample ac commodation may be had here for'the very largest shipment of cattle. Cimarron wants a good laundry. There is every inducement in the world for the establishment of a good institution of this kind, and the busi ness people of the town will encour age the enterprise from the start. Cimarron will make a good shipping point for this entire section, and will be the natural distributing point for a large section of the northern part of the territory. Railroad connect tions with three railroads, and stages to every outlying camp and town, will -afford a good central point for a large laundry business. J. W. Records is building a five room modern cottage on an excel lent site on East Seventh street. Roundhouse Foreman Christie has completed a modern five-room cot tage and will move his family from Raton this week. W. L. Farrell, chief dispatcher, for the Rocky Mountain road, will move his offices from Preston to Cimarron today. Jolly Dance Master Mechanic Records took the train into Raton Sunday, relieving Kngineer Leonard, who took a two days' lay-off. which he spent in Ra ton. Mr. Leonard took his train again Tuesday. CIMARRON SCHOOLS ARE FLOURISHING Cimarron schools are in an excel lent condition. There are more than ninety pupils in regular attendance, and the grades are well kept up. Miss Stump is principal, and teaches the higher grades, and Miss Margaret Cavanaugh has the primary and in termediate. The school building is adequate for present needs and is comfortable and well heated and ventilated. A PLEASANT SKATING PARTY A very pleasant skating party was formed by the young people of the town last Thursday night at French lake, just east of town. Hand cars and push cars were used as a means of conveyance, and the short trip to the lake made in a few jolly minutes. At the lake bon fires were built and the merry crowd skated for some time. Some of the young men very gallantly started out to the middle of the lake to find the airholes and test the safety of the ice. They found the ice safe for a long distance from the shore, but managed to, find the air holes all right, and though they did not find bottom, they were sure that the lake was many feet deep. B. Criebel, Thomas Bough, Edward Eals. NEW PLANING MILL FOR CIMARRON One of the industries which will be established in Cimarron immediately will be a planing mill. The plant will be installed as soon as the building city, providing bachelor's quarters and a place of amusement and recre ation. A first class dining room will be kept up, and a few first class rooms will be kept for transients. Marriage Licenses The following marriage licenses were issued by County Clerk Tvvitty: Thomas Smith, Raton, and Myrtle Wills, Denver; Charles II. McGaug hey and Grace L. Evens, Raton; Ju lian Hernandez and Elena Garcia Baca, Dawson. ARMIJOS WANT RE-HEARJNG IN HUBBELL CASES. From the Raton Range. Attorney Neill B. Field of. this city yesterday filed a motion for a rehear ing in the territorial supreme court in the cases of Thomas S. Hubbell vs. Perfecto Armijo and Frank A. Hub bell vs. Justo R. Armijo, which were decided at the two days' special ses sion last week in favor of the Hub bells. The motion for re-hearing will be argued at the regular session of the territorial supreme court, which will convene on the afternoon of Jan. 8. Perfecto Armijo and Justo R. Armijo are the present sheriff and treasurer respectively of Bernalillo county, having been appointed at the time Governor Otero removed from i office Sheriff Thomas S. Hubbell and Treasurer Frank A. Hubbell. An interesting legal battle is expected and the cases may be carried to the supreme court of the United States. Albuquerque Citizen. Geo. II. Attempts to Wreck Trains and Shoot Santa Fe Employes. Several attempts have been made during the past week to wreck Santa Fe trains at San Antonio, New Mex ico, culminating Tuesday night in the shooting of a section foreman who was attempting to repair a broken lock.
