AYliite daisies on the meadow green
Present thy beauteous form to me :
Peaceful and joyful these are seen,
And peace and joy encompass thee.
I watch tbem where they dance and shine,
And love them for their beauty's thine.
Red roses o'er the woodland brock
Remember me thy lovely face :
So blushing and so fresh its look,
So wild and shy it radiant grace.
I kiss them in their coy retreat.
And think of lips more soft and sweet.
Gold arrows of the merry mom
Shot swiftly over eastern seas,
Gold tassels of the bending corn
That ripplo in the August breeze,
Thy wiidering hniile, thy glorious hair
And all thy power and state declare.
White, red aud o!d the awful cn-vsii
Of virtue and of beauty too !
From w hat a height those eyes look down
On him .-ho proudly dare to sue.
Vet, free from self as God from sin
Is love that loves nor askes to win.
Let me but love in the flower,
The waving grass, the dancing wave.
The fragrant pomp of garden bovvei,

And lime -diall tire eie love decay.

Or in the mishiy winds that blow,

Are School Girls Injured by Study ?LAND PLASTER.
Tha school teachers ' cf Worces
ter, Mass., have arrived
conclusion that over studj' docs not
injure children, but that late hours,
badly vmti at d rooms and ev:l
habits do. This is especially true
of girls. Not one in a thousand is
injured by study, dleness and
unhygienic habits are the true
source of ill health among school
girls. Their emotional natures are
stimulated by sensational novels.
I'ntvholescmc diet and the disipa
tioiid of late hours have also their
share in bringing about the disas
trous results which are attributed
to over excercise of the brain. So
far it is from being true that girls
are injured by study that, were
their studies so increased that they
would have no time for. idleness,
the result would be a decided im
provement in their health.

Sanborn claims that he disbursed
over $150,000 out of the proceeds
he received for collecting under
contract Revenue for the United
States. It is welKknown that Ben
Butler contrived to have the law
passed authc rizing the contract; and
that he secured the appointment of
this particular person to the fat
job. It was a subject of comment
when Sanborn in accounting for his
disbursements, failed to specify how
much was paid to Butler; -and the i
omission gave great cause for
suspecting the truth of Sanborn's
statement. However, new develop
ments remove the suspicion and
now Sanborn star.ds as truthful a
fellow as ever pilfered the treasury.
It seems chai the item of $25,000
paid to Prescott, an unknown lawyer,
was in effect a 'disbursement to the
doughty warriors, for Prescott is
only an understrapper of Butler and
formerly his private secretary.
