Puerto Notes. (Correspondence : The farmers in the vicinity of Puerto are plowing and preparing ground for planting crops. Some have planted and have corn up. The cold snaps have done very little damage to growing crops in this part of the country. Meeks and Griggs made a busi ness trip to Tucumcari Monday. Mr. Meeks is talking of going back to Oklakoma as he has interests there that require his attention. J. P. Atkins and brother-in-law Mr. Chandler, were in Quay last week looking at the country. They visited Tucumcari on their trip. Mr. Chandler is lately from Okla homa and is well pleased with our country. Puerto is to have a picnic the 23rd and everybody invited. We will have good speakers and plenty to eat. The people of this community have a move on foot to chip in and work a good road up Puerto canon. It is on a section line. Most of the travel from the plains is that way as the Apache is washed out. Henry Maywald went to Tucum cari last week to take charge of the wool scourinir plant. We are informed that W. II. Rush has the contract to furnish tho posts for the telephone line. Prof. Fra.ier is progressing nicely with his school. Josh liristow put up his wind mill this week and is now ready to irrigate his garden. Lambing season is well undnr way and the sheep men are kept busy. Bear Grass. Presbyterian church William II.
