at Clayton, New Mexico.
" October 24, 1907.
A sufficient contest affidavit having been
filed in this office by James Lockleur, con
testant against Homestead Entry No. 4759
made July 2 1903 for se4 8W4 Sectiou 14
ez nv4 and nw4ne4 Section 23 Twp 8n
range 320, by Julia M Drake, Contestoe,
in which it is alleged that said entry woman
has never established her resideuce there
on; has neither cultivated nor improved
said entry, but has wholly abandoued the
same for more than six months next prior
to the tiling of this affidavit of coutest
February 26 1907; and that said alleged
absence from the said land was not due to
her employment in the Army, Navy or
Mai iue Corps of the United States as a
private soldier, officer, seaman or marina
during the war with Spain or during any
other war in which the United States may
be engaged."
Said parties are hereby notified 10 ap
pear, respond and offer evidence touching
said allegation at teu o'clock A M on Jau
uary 7 1908 before N V Gallegos United
States Court Commissioner at his office in
Tucumcari, New Mexico and that final
hearing will be held at teu o'clock A M on
January 14, 1908 before the Register and
Kecetver, at the United States Land Office

Dr. J. A. Minton of Oklahoma,
one of the leading evangelists of
the Christian Church, will begin
a series of protracted services at
the South Methodist Church, Sun
day, November 10th, at 11:00 a.
m. and 7:30 p. m. Services every
night through the following week.
Attend these meetings; you can not
spend an hour anywhere else in
town that would be any more in
teresting and beneficial to you
than to hear Dr. Minton discuss
the great subjects of the Bib'.e.
Miss Marguerite Cooper, who
has been in the employ of the Rock
Island Eating House here for the
past year, will, on November 28,
be united in marriage to Mr.
Clarence La Frant of El Paso,
Texas. The wedding will take place
at the home of the groom's parents
in El Paso, after which the couple
will depart immediately for the
City of Mexico, where they will
spend several days sight-seeing.
Mr. La Frant is an engineer on
the Southwestern, and we are in
formed is the owner of several
choice business and residence lots
in El Paso at which place they
v ill make their home.
H. K. Grubbsand wife of Tu
cumcari spent Wednesday and
Thursday here. Mr. Grubbs look
ed at several lots available for
business and bought two. He has
gone back to Tucumcari but will
return the first of November and
