Businiess Laws In Daily Use. The following compilation of business law contains the essence of a large amount of legal verbi age: If a note is lost or stolen it does not release the maker; he must pay it, if the consideration for which it was given and the amount can be proven. Notes bear interest only when so stated. . Principals are responsible for the acts of their agents. Each individual in a partner ship is responsible for the whole amount of the debts of the firm, ex (!ept in cases of special partner Ship. Lgnoriance of the law excuses no one. 1he law compels no one to do impossibilities. An agreement without. a consid eration is void. Contracts made on Sunday can not be euforced. A note by a minor is void. A contract made by a iliinor is void. A coutract made with a luiatie is void. A note obtained by fraud. or' fioi a ..person in a state of iiitoxi catio'on, cannot be collected. It is a fiad to coeccal a fraud. Signatures made with a lead pencil are good in hiw. A receipt for1 moiey is uot al WaYS conlu('sive. 'I'le acts of oneI pat11n er. biil the rest. "Va lue received" is usualiy written ill a lot, and shodiuld he. but it -is not neckssay1W. A bil ma bewrittcn upon any paper, or substitute for it, either with ink or pencil. The payee. should be distinctly named in the note, unless it is pay able to bearer. An endorsee has a right of ac tion against all whose names were on the bill when he received it. The loss of a bill or note is not sufficient excuse for not giving no tice of protest. If two or more persons as part ners are jointly liable on a note or bill, due notice to one of them is sufficient. If a note or bill Is transferred as security, or even as payment of a pre-existing debt, the debt revives if the bill or note be dishouored. An endorsement may be written on the face or back. An endorser may )revent his own liability to be sued by writing "without recourse,'' or similar words. All claims which do not rest up on t seal or judlgerment must be sued wihhin 6 years from the time wheni they arise. Part payimenit of a debt Which has passed the time of statuor) im itation revives the whole debt, anld the claim holds gtood for another period of 6 years from the date of such pfartial payment.
