Walhalla, Jan. 31.?It seems quite
probable that Walhalla is soon to
have electric lights. Mr. W. A.
Strother and Dr. J. W. Bell have let
to Messrs. QaurtermuB & MoDonald
the contract -for the erection of a
dam on the 'Shoals on the Itheit
trait of land some five miles north
west of that town, and active work Is
called for in the very near future,
as soon as the necessary materials can

been placed by the contractors for
the'matertals' for the erection of the
dam. which will be about 125 feet
In length 12 feet In thickness at the
base, 2 feet thick at- the top and
15 feet high. It is said that this shoal
affords an unusually good prospect
for good development at a moderate

are abundatly able to carry, out any
plans that may be necessary for the
equipment of the plant It la possible
that tbe development wtl be sufficient
to justify the furnishing of some
current, for the use of sraall enter

Mossra. C. W. Pitchford, of Wal
