"Johnnie, thou was mild and lovely,
Gentle as the summer breeze.
Gentle as the air of evening,
When it boats among tbe trees.
Peaceful by thy silent slumber;
Pe'iceful in the grave so low ;
Thou no more will join our number,
Thou no more our song shall know
Dearest Johnnie, thou hast left ne,
Here thy loss we deeply feel;
But i'a God that hast bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life has fled,

There no farewell tear iesabe&!."
