The fact that the board of county
comnlissioners has been authorized
by a special act of the legislature to
expend the sum of $1S,000 on the
court house, has attracted the pres

ent construction and building con

GOOD ROADS MEETING.
President Alken, With Two Other Del
egates, Invited to Attend.
Dr. H. K. Aiken, as president of the
Laurens chamber of commerce, has
been invited to attend a good roads
convention, to be held at Henderson
vllle. N. C., March .'50. He is also re
quested to appoint two other delegates
from Laurens which he says he will
be glad to do If they will agree to at
tend the meeting.
The letter of invitation is as follows,
under date of Feb. 23:
There will be a good roads meeting
held at Hendersonvllle, Henderson Co.,
N. C? on Wednesday, March 30th., in
the court house. The meeting Is called
by the North Carolina Geological Sur
vey and the Southern Appalachian
Good Roads association in the interest
of certain roads that were advocated
by the Good Roads convention held
at Ashevllle, Oct. r>-7, 1909. This meet
ing will take up especially the con
struction of a road from Greenville. S.
C. to Hendersonvllle, Henderson Co.,
I and Ashevllle, IUincombe Co., N. C.

struction of a road from Charlotte, N.
c. to Asevllle via Shelby and Ruther
fordton, and also via Sfpartauburg,
