Clinton. Sept. 12.?The greatest
event of the past week in ('Union was
the meeting of the Third District Med
ical association in the Clinton hotel
Thursday at *:::<? P. M.
Preceding the meeting the local
medical practitioners were hosts at
an excolloutly prepared and served re
past In the hotel dinning room.
The program for the meeting was
of unusual interest to those present
und much enthusiasm was manifested
in the paiiers. reports, and discussions.
Dr. G. A. Neuffer of Abbeville pre
sided over the meeting which was op
ened with prayer by the Rev. e. L,
Fowler. In his opening remarks Dr.
Neuffer urged a free and thorough dis

He expressed his gratification at the
fact that this meeting was more fully
attended than any previous one.

roll call, reading of minutes, and re
ports of committee on by-laws, the pa

tree last Tuesday and was severely
hurt, is better today.

sick for a month. Is still quite sick.
Miss Jessie Mahaffey entertained a
few friends on Friday evening.

graded school. Is with Mrs. Neville.

Hill Ca mo on Special Train.
Clinton. Sept. 12.?I-ast Thursday
was a gala day Kt the Thomwell
Orphanage. Everything was garnish
ed and set in order for toe entertain
ment ni' the Presbyterian Sabbath
school of Kock Hill.
And a little after eleven o'clock

hundred men. women, and children
streamed down Broad street, under
the guidance of Messrs Tom Scott.

Copeland, and other friends in Clinton

phanage where Dr. Jacobs and the
orphanage family were gathered to
receive them. A fft?V words of wel

spread a sumptuous picnic dinner on
improvised tables in the grove In front
of Gordon cottage.
Owing to the Inconvenient schedule
they were forced to accept from the
railway companies they were obliged
to give the institution only a hurried
visit and had no opportunity to ob
serve the system in operation. But,
though their visit was disappointingly
brief, they were heartily welcome and
it is hoped that another time they will
he able to stay longer than two hours
Clinton in general and the Orphan
age in particular feel that Hock Hill
Presbyterians have paid (hem no small
tribute in paying nearly $:?00 for less
than three hours in this garden spot
of South Carolina.
