The plan adopted to raise this
amount is what Is known as the
"short-term simultaneous campaign"
that has been used so successfully by
the Young Men's Christian Associa

paign Is conducted by Presbyteries?
As there are seven Presbyteries of the
Presbyterian church in South Caro

The third of these campaigns Is to
be held in Enoree Presbytery. Eno
rce Presbytery comprises the Presby
terian churches of Greenville, Lau
rens, Spartanburg, Union and Chero
kee (west of Broad River) Counties.
This Presbytery now has 58 churches
with a total membership, according to
'.ast reports of 5.-113. These churches
will be asked to raise a sum of $G6,
000.00 and each church will have a
definite part of this amount appor
tioned to it, which it is expected to
raise in a canvass to last eight days
and to be conducted by picked men
of the particular church.

It was in the Christmas time that
he left us and as the anniversary of
his death draws near tho sadness of
the hearts of those who knew and
loved him best, Is Intensified. Ills sun
went down while it was yet day, and
to those of us that arc left to mourn
his unseemly taking off, to human
hearts and minds, yet we should real
ize that God makes no mistakes, and
what to us "seems dark now, shall
be made clear hereafter." He was the
only son of his parents, his father
preceded him to tho grave years ago.
One of the saddest features of bis
death to me was, "ho was the only
son of his mother and she a widow."
Besides his aged mother who today
fourns "like Rachel of old for her
child and will not bo comforted" ho
leave:; an affectionate wife, six nttio
children and three loving sisters to
mourn his death.
May the spirit of Him who camo to
make the world better and brighter, in
Bethlehem's hills, bring poaco to tho
hearts that today grieve sorely and
may wo all heed tho solemn Injunction
He uttered on Judea's plain "Be ye
also ready, for in such an hour as ye
think not tho Son of Man cometh."
