Misses Kate and Marie Curry, stu
dents at Lander College, passed
through Laurens yesterday enroute to

tain Inn, returned to her home after
spending several days In the city as
the guest of Miss Willie Dorroh.
Mr. Minist Machen, who spends a
large part of his time here with his
sister, Mrs. R. A. Cooper, Is among
the graduates at Furninn this year.
Rev. and Mrs. P. B. Wells and
daughter, Elizabeth, of Charleston,
have arrived in the city to attend the

Miss Lula Dial has returned home
after a year's work at the Columbia
Female colh ge. She was accompan
ied by Miss Bessie Kinard, of Ninety
Six, who has been spending several
days with her.
Mrs. E. J. Gage, of Greenville, has
been in the city several days attend
ing tae commencement exercises of
the city graded school where her
daughter, Miss Polly Prentiss, is a
member of the graduating class.
Mrs. William Cockrell, her two
daughters, Elizabeth and Lucia, and
Master Augusta Crockreil, of Jack
sonville, Pia., arrived in the city sev
eral days ago to be the guests of Mrs.
Rockrell's sister, Mrs. J. P. Simpson.
Mrs. Clyde FYands, who was quite
sick at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John A. Franks several days last
week, Is now much better. She was
suffering from appendicitis, but the
physicians did not advise an opera
tion at this time.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Duncan Adams, Miss
Marguerite Adams and Miss Annie
Keller Adams, of Charleston, have ar
rived in the city to be present at the
marriage of Miss Helen Crisp to Mr.
George Benjamin Greene, of Ander
son, tomorrow evening.
Miss Rucia Wolff and Miss Martha
Wolff passed through the city Sat
urday on their way home from Lime
stone. Miss Rucia Wolff, an alumnus
of the college, responded to one of the
toasts at the alumni banquet Tues
day evening. Miss Martha Wolff Is :i
student of the college.
Mr. Geo. L. Pitts and .Mr. J. A. Ro
land have returned from the meeting
of the Grand Lodge, Knights of Py
thias, which met in Alken last week.
They arc? high in their praises of the
hospitality of the Alken people. While
in Aiken Mr. Roland was the guest of
his sister, Mrs. .1. W. McNair.
Mrs. Nat Richardson and Mr. John
Shoppard motored to Greenville last
Friday and brought hack as the guest
of Mrs. Richardson, Miss Pearl La
Motte, who has been teaching in
Townvllle, and Miss Juanita Brazing
ton, who has been attending Chicora.
They left Monday for their home In
Darlington.
State Consul C. A. Power, of the
Head Camp of South Carolina, W. O.
W. who was elected to this high
office at the recent meeting at Green
ville, will attend the Supreme Camp
to he held in Jacksonville, Fla., June
10th. Mr. Power is one of the most
influential members of the organiza
tion in this state.
Mr. Richard Dunlap, who was forc
ed to leave his studies at the Presby
terian college at Clinton several
months ago. leaves today for Ashe
vllle to spend several months for his
health. He has been improving some
lately and his friends have hopes that
the change of surroundings will re
store him to his former self again.
Mrs. J. P. Marion and Mrs. J. D.
('handler, of Sumter, Dr. and Mrs.
W. D. Ferguson and Mr. Fleming
Jones, came through the country
from Sumter last week In Mr. Jones'
Studebaker touring car. Mrs. Marion
and Mrs. Chandler spent several days
here as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T.
D. Darlington.
Bridge Party.
Miss Elizabeth Hill of Moorsville,
Ala., was the guest of honour Thurs
day evening, when Miss Mary Todd
entertained with a bridge party. Fol
lowng the enjoyment of s< veral hands
of auction bridge, the guests were
served a delectable ice course. During
the evening delicious fruit punch was
served by Misses Donie Counts and
Lilla Todd.

Mount Olive, Juno 2.?This section
was visited by a heavy rain and hail
stomi last Tuesday. Much damage
was done to the crops. Some of our
farmers had to replant their cotton
and corn.

at Mr. .1. P. Knight's Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Cooper spent
Sunday with Mrs Cooper's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Moore at Ekom.

Wednesday from LImwood college
N. C, where she witnessed the gradua
tion of her daughter, Miss Sula Mael
Holt who accompanied her home.
Returning they visited relatives in
Greenville and Piedmont.

West Saturday, where she will at
tend the commencement exerclres of
the Woman's college. While there
she is the guest of her cousin, Miss
Irene McDantel.
A marriage of unusual interest,
here, occurred at Cross Hill Sunday
afternoon when Miss Cana Cul
hertson and Mr. J. C. Wells of this
place, were united in marriage at the
home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Edna
Culhertson. They have the best wish
es of their many friends here and
elsewhere.
Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Martin, of
Ware Shoals, spent the week-end with
Mrs. Martin's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. P, Knight.
