Annual School Fair to At
Judging from the Exhibits Already
Placed Il the Couirt House, the Ex
libits will be lietter and More Plen
tiful than 1,t1A Year's Exhlibilton.
Everything is In ieadiness for. the
annual school fair which is to be
held Friday. Should the 'beautiful
weather of the past few days continue
a hlge crowd' of scholars, teachers,
trustees and patrons will be here to
enjoy tht day togetlier. Preparations
arc almost completed for the day and
everything points to a successful ex
hibition in all departiments. The ex
hibits in the court house have already
been placedi and have been pronounced
more beautiful and more varied than
last year. The judges will pass oil
these tomorrow night and the ribbons
placed upon tleimi for inspection Fri
(lay. TEntries for both the literary and
athletic contests have been pouring in
and the indieations are that they will
far exceed last year's lists. In fact,
they have already exceeded last year's
entries by a large majority.
Considerahle interest is centered in
t lie high school oratorical contest
which is to be held In the graded
Echool auditoriui F'riday i igh t. As
is already well known, the winner of
this contest is awarded the Mlinter
Medal, provided for In the will of the
late ""apt. .1. It. Minter and donated ac
cordilngly each year by his heirs. The
winiier of secolnd place will he award
ed another gold medal by the associa
tion. Iloth medals are suitably in
serihed. In addition to these the
Ilirim of Fleming Birothers gives a
)rophy cup each year to tlie high
school mnakuing most' polits in tie .11ah
letle con tests. Il lis cup has beln
held for two years by the Clinton
high school and a pretty coni test Is
expected to develop this yearu for its
iretention in Clinton. These two niedals
and the cup will be on display in
Fleming llrotIhers' window during this
week until after tie conte-t Friday
The visltors to the city are expect
ed to bear Inind that the literary
and athletic contests and viewing of
exhibits In the court house will all be
in progress at the same time. Ath
letlc contests will be open to the pub
lie, of course. but ont rance to the
school rooms whiere the literary con
tests will bie held will be by admissol
card only. These will be givnIi only
