turned to Charleston, but Mrs. Calcutt
will remain for a while and help nurse

'Mr. and Mrs. Athens Ballow wore
the spend-the-day guests of the fam
ily of Mr. T. S. Langston recently.
Miss M-arie Madden, of Greenville,
came home for the week-end to visit
her mother, Mrs. May Madden.

homo" people were going hither and
yon.
Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Finley and chil

Mr. J. A. Wotord and sona, Gus and
Tom, spent Sunday afternoon with

Pleasant Mound.
Mr. and Mrs. Wratkins and family
were the visitors of Mr. andl Mrs. C. P.
Finley.
Mrs. Thad Moore and children had

mts, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Roper, of Ra
iun. Sunday they had for a short time
% reunion when the three brothers,
Pal, Maryin and Felton Roper came
ti) from Camp Jackson. Pal is due to
leave Tuesday for oversea service. He

The friends of George Brown, Jr.,
regret he is not recovering as fast as
could be wished, from a recent spell
of influenza. We trust he will soon
he out again.
Our hearts were saddened when the
news caie of the death of Mrs. Dora
Benjamin Bailey. Gcentle and lovable
in disposition she counted her friends
by scores and all heart. go out in
deepeit synpathy to her aged parents,
husband and children. The writer feels
a dc) personal loss for we have
known and loved her since her girl
hood.

pretty sunshine after so much rain,

gathering crops before cold weather.
There has been a good deal of sick.
