John Ford Loses Life In Attempting
to Protect Young Women.
Charlotte, '. C., Nov. 7.-Two un
identified negroes early -tonight held
Up an automobile party of two young
men and two girls, white, on the high
way three miles from Gastonia, N. C.,
killed one of the young 'ien, John
Ford of Lincointon, N. V., dragged the
girls from the automobile into the
woods and assaulted -them and made
their escape, according to telephone
messages to the Charlotte ipolico de
