MAY .CUT SOUTH IN
I . 0. P. CONTENTION
lepresentation of Southern States Dis.
cussed by Committee at Vashington.
Washington, June 6v.-Preliminary to
a mceting here Wednesday of the re
publcan niational committee. a sub
committee today discussed the ques
tion of representation of southern
states at national convmntions of the
party. While no definite conclusions
cluding Postmaster General IIays,
were said to be of the opinion that
southern districts which fail to place
republican candidates for congress in
the field in 1922 should be denied the
.: rivilege of sending delegrates to the
next national convention.
Such a policy, in the opinion of
members of the sub-committee. would
tend to stimulate party organization
in the south. uAthough it probably
would materially cut down southterna
representation in the 1I24 nauotial
convent:on.
