theatre under the management
of Wolf Co opened its doors
to the public Monday night The
place was crowded at both per
formances there being no stand
ing room The placets hand

for the opening week is well sei

with a hearty reception and
sponded to a number of encores

gathering of children who were

officiating The wedding was
very quiet on account of a re
ent bereavement in the family
Mrs Myer mother of the
room arrived in Houston Tucs

La to attend the ceremony Mr
and Mrs Meyer left immediate
ly after the ceremony for San
Antonio and other places on
their wedding journey
Mr and Mrs Meyer will be at
home at the Bristol hotel upon
their return to the city
There will be an informal
dance at the Concordia Club on

The officers and directors of
the Jewish Literary Society met
at their rooms in the Mason
Building at 8 oclock Tuesday
night The regular routine was
gone through several commit
tees making reports of a more
or less important nature
It will be to the interest of
every member of the Society to
be present at the next meeting
as affairs of great importance
to the Society are being formu
lated and it is premature to an
nounce through the press at this
date the good thing we hope
for until they are a certainty
The cooperation of all members
is desired and needed
Messrs Maurice Wolf and
Harry Friedman were elected to
membership
It was decided to conduct an
emigrant class at the Societys
rqoms and all applicants should
apply at the Herald office 707

meeting adjourned
Jewish Literary Dance
The dance given by the Jewish
Literary Society at their hall
was well attended by the young
lady and gentlemen members
On the whole the affair was
a1 most enjoyable one

The next dance of the Society
which will be during carnival
will start at 730 instead of 9 p
m and a corps of competent
terpsichorean masters will be on
hand to assist the boys that
dont know to attain the accom
plishment of dancing hence
there should be no wallflowers
It is expected to see the attend
ants of the dance present at the
literary meeting at the syna
gogue on the 25th An announce
ment was made that the various
classes will start at an early
early date It was a late hour
when the dancers departed all
apparently well satisfied with
the evenings diversion

ple a new literary society which
will be known as Beth Israel
Literary Society There were
a goodly number present and
the following officers elected

Messrs Meyer Wagner Joe
Schoenman Miss Adele Levy
and Mrs Kumenir compose the
program committee with Mr II
