OLIVER. The Southwest Minors' Association has taken up the work of getting proper signs put up on the desert. The association urges upon the boards of supervisors in the several counties that Immediate action betaken in the erect ing of sign boards at the points of di vergence and crossing of all trails and roads in the desert, giving distances to and the location of water, and to the camps and towns. It is urged that tho work of exploring the desert country is greatly retarded and rendered peril ous .-by .reason of the fact that not a sign or indication marks the roads arid watering places from one end of tho desert to tho other. The work of the pioneer Is at all times attended with great difficulties. He encounters thirst and hunger, and yet his work opens up the stores of wealth in the mountains to the world. Without the aid of the sturdy prospector the west would in most part still hold undiscovered tho treasuro'that lies hid in her mountains, and yet nothing has been done to help him to solve the problems of water and distance. Should this idea of tho Southwestern Miners' Association be carried out it is highly probable that the neaf future will see a rate of pro gress unequaled before in this western country. f, AN EXCELLENT SUGGESTION.
