JOHN TAYLOR TALKS.
John Taylor, the prophet, seer
and revelator, and president of that
world-famed matrimonial bureau,
the Mormon church,passed through
Albuquerque, the other evening, eng
route to his home in Salt Lake.
The distinguished husband was in
terviewed by a Democrat reporter
of that city, and the following is
the result :
"Mr. Taylor," saidjthe reporter,
"the readers of the Democrat
would greatly enjoy a published
chat with you. Are you willing to
talk and have your words given to
the world in print !"
('Oh, yes," he replied. '
"Are you a married man, Mr.
"Yes. I have quite a. herdof
wives. I cannot complain of the
matrimonial blessings which the
Lord has showered upon me,"
How many wives have you, Mr.
'. "Really, young man, I could not
answer that question with any de
gree of accuracy without looking at
the "book. In governing my people
I have so much to look after that I
cannot keep track of such trivia!
"And do you know the number
of 3rour children?"
"Not exactly. I think the last
report placed the number at ninety
four, but that was when I received
my last letter from home two weeks
ago. When the letter was written
there' had been no late returns re
ceived from branches of my family
circle at points remote from the
railroad, and the figures are no

We make a specialty .of it, and the

away, but the material for most of
the kid gloves now manufactured
comes from Zion."
"Will you telegraph jrour wives
that you are coming, Mr. Taylor,

too sacred for the rude eyes of the
world to rest upon. Another ob

jn the fact that if I should form my
wives in line on the sidewalk and
start in to give each one a kiss of
welcome, heaven only knows how
inany strange women might get into
the ranks and rob me of smacks to
which they have no marital right.
