The programmes of Christinas carols, much the same as in past years, will be ren dered in the different churches and halls of this city in observance of the feast ot Christ's nativity. An improvement, however, is ap parent in many of tlie mn«n.'ij.n's eff.rts for tlie coming events, which may be seen from tho following anuoui^eineiits, particularly in tbe jirogramnies of (Irace Church, St. Joseph's, St Bridget's, Trinity Chnreh and the French Church, where tlie famous tenor Guille will sing. An excellent entertainment and festival for the benefit of St. Mary's Church Sunday-school was riven last night in the basement of the old Ca thedral on California street. It was the last en tertainment that the Sunday school will bold lv the bulding, and it had few more meritorious predece-sors.
