4500 Verdict in Blunt Case
A verdict of 4 500 was return
ed by a jury in district court late
Friday afternoon for the plaintiff 1
in the case of Jesse Blunt against
the Chicago Burlington Quincy
railroad company Blunt asked
for 1 5000 1 he verdict was for
injuries received when he fell
from an engine that started sud
denly Blunt was a fireman
At the time the accident occur
red Blunt was filling the sandbox
on the engine which was stand-
ing on a sidetrack at McCook
Neb The engine was started
suddenly as he alleges without
warning and Blunt was thrown
to the ground from the running
board injuring his knee The
defendant claimed that the bell
was rung before the engine was
started The accident occurred
on March 21 1908 Blunt re
sides at Plattsmouth Neb Lin
