REV. LOVEJOY WRITES
FROM THE ANGEL CITY
Los Angeles, Cal., June 25, 1915.
Editor Yuma Eyaminer,
My Dear Mr. Shorey:
As you requested so I will do drop
you a few lines in the midst of strenu
ous duties packing up.
As you may know, I have been ex
ceedingly busy visiting, etc. The mar
riage of our second son, Charles Irving
Lovejoy, street car conductor, took
place last Tuesday at 5 p. m., at the
bride's home Miss Helen E. Cloud
Charlie and his bride left at once for
San Francisco, thereby outdoing a host
of young folks who had counted on
.an elaborate send-off but they got
Jeft However; the auto was highly
.decorated with several pairs of old
shoes, suspenders etc., and a big pla
card, "We're just married," conspicu
ously read all the way through the
city to Sixth and Main.
The next day I was called upon by
an old friend whoni I hadtreceived. into
the Annandale .church to officiate at
her husbandte funeral an old soldier
whom I had also received into ' this
church. They were so glad I "was here..
I had hardly turned around before
the pastor, who, by the way, was con
verted under my ministry In Girard,
Kansas, and by me taken into the
church there in 1886, engaged me to
preach here on Sunday morning and
thereby cheating me out of hearing
some big gun in the city. It is all
right when I can do good and it is
always my good fortune to be busy.
Sunday night, I am to give my enter
tainment, "The Unprinted Votumo of
Life," in Eagle Rock City.
Brother Crouch just called me up
over the phone, two miles away, and
engaged us for yaller-leg chicken din
ner on Sunday. I said "Yep."
Am billed for a Sunday school pic
nic of our church here next Tuesday
in Eagle Rock Park, about a, mile away.
More chicken. Yours as ever,
IRVING R. LOVEJOY.

The proposed mass meetings of unit

scheduled for July 3, at 3:30 p. m., at
Crane School House, and Monday
night at 7:30 at Somerton are attract
ing widespread attention throughout
the territory embraced in the Yuma
project, and notwithstanding that
about nine-tenths of the bill posters
announcing the time and place of these
meetings have been torn down and
destroyed by some miscreant there is
every reason to believe the metings.
will be very largely attended by those
Just why these bill posters should
be torn down and destroyed would
seem a mystery, but when you stop to
consider that there are a few people
in this community who do not want
the Board of Cost Review to get all
the facts pertaining to the Yuma pro

will at once be understood. But all the
facts will be.forthcomihg just the flame
