No ONE who has eer stood on the
bridge which crosses the Colorado
river at Yuma could have but felt the
regret at seeing such a powerful
agent going to waste with out being
utilized on its passage toward the
ocean, and that a few years at most
will witness a change is almost a cer
tainty. C. M. Strauss has h ad Tom Hughes
arrested for illegal vot:ng at the re
cent city election in Tucioa. When
men in such high places on society's
ladder get to monfcejing with eaeh
other's franchise, it is high time to
pass the forca bill. Well, well. Who
would ever thought of such a thing.
Is speaking of newspaper enter
prises in Mexico he Two Republics
aye; There is not a paper in Mexico
with a circulation which would be
considered good in the small cities of
the United Seates and this is due to
the fact that until recently enterprise
in journalism in Mexico has been al
most unknown. While enterprise
may be much for journalism in this
country, the newspapers will never
haTO large circulations until printing
paper may be obtained cheaply, and
the price of paper will remain high
until the importation duty now levied
on the article is either abolished or
very materially rednced.
