This morning as be was makiog bis rounds through tbe shaft ing bis clothinz accidentally caught on a bolt on ot.e of tbe wheels and he wi drawn into one of tbe rtpidly revolving wheel and thrown up agiinst th top of tbe building by tbe belting and rendered unconscious and his body fell back down and was oaught again aud mashed between tbe belt and wheels, bis legs from the knees down being crushed to a pulp. His bad and upper portion of his body was badly cut and disfigured. Mr. Johnson's outfit, wbicb, he bad while working recently tn tbe Galluro mountains, has been brought here and tbe large camping outfit put up near tbe property, A force of three men on each shift has been put to work sinking the shaft, which was down about 12 feet ard from wbicb a carload of rich ore bas already been taken. Tbe ore bas all been sacked readv for shipment with tbe exception of a few tons which will be sacked as soon as a supply of sacks oau be se cured. Tbe ore is of a high grade manganere and carries a good per cent of lead besides several hundred ounces of silver to the ton. A carload will be shipped to Kl Paso within the next few weeks and should net oon sidersb'e returns as it will be smelted free on account ot its value as a flux. REPORTS OF HORSE STEALING .Many Horses Stolen Front Ranchers Throughout The County. ONE BUNCH IS RECOVERED Arrest of Suspected Parties In Hnachucas and Brought Here For A Trial. Durinp the past few weeks a num.. ber of thefts of horses, burros, eto., have been reported from different par s of tbe county. Several head of horses have been taken from different parts of the county and one or two bead taken i,from this vicinity, while Pete Crane lost several head of burros from bis ranob on the San Pedro. Deputy Sheriff Larrieu and Mr. Crane started on the trail of tbe burro thieves and succeeded in overtaking them at the Eureka mine in tbe Hus cbuuas yesterdty afternoon and placed tbe men under arrest. They still had tbe burros in tbeir possession. Tbe men were brought to Fairbank this afternoon and will be brought up to the county j il this evening and will be given a prelimintry examination before Judge Wallace on Monday. The Vaqul, wbo stole tbs horse of Charley Fredericks, was arrested at the Salvation As -- constable there on sutpicun of nav. ijg stolen property in hi possession, and was held to answer, tbe officials there not knowing that be bad stolen tba horse until after he bad been nabbed.
