Feel Encourged
Members cf the Taft club of Cochise
county have received the following
telegram, from the Taft national
bureau at Washington:
"Taft delegates will control Mary
land convention on organization. A
recount in one county may change
the state in our favor entirely. We
get Arkansas state and have votes to
carry tbe Tennessee stale convention.
Talt has 463 delegates tonight; Roose
velt, 229, not counting Maryland for
eiher. There is no doubt of tbe out

Arrive at Florence
The largest consignment of prison
ert ever received at tbe state peniten
tiary arrived tbe 6th; 28 from three
diiTerent counties II from Yavapai,
10 from Maricopa; 7 from Cochise
Tbe prisoners, with guards were tak
en from Phoenix in a private car.
Governor Hunt was a passenger nut
on the train from Phoenix and enter

the prisoners.
Pumping Plants
for Valley
Many small but up to date pumping
plants are being installed at present
by ihjj farmers of tbe Webb neighbor
hood, in the Sulphur Spriogt valley,
according to Robjrt M Tyler, post
master and merchant in the littlr
town While (be average acreage to
be irrigated by each pump will be
small, tbe aggregate will amount to
several hundred acres. Most nf the
irrigated land will be planted in crops
which will bring large profits.
The chief crops now being planted
in this neighborhood are beans, corn,
milo maize, pumpkins and melons.

passed away one who bad been con

Angeles. Mr Fisk is slowly recover

Dr II A Schell, ol Tucson , .has re
ceived a letter from Governor Hunt,
informing him of bis appointment on
tbe state board of examiners in opto
metry. The other members of the

Prescott, and Dr E Mossen of Phoe
nix. Dr Schell has been a n.ember of
the board of optical examiners since

when the inmates presented Miss Kate
Barnard with a beautiful silver loving

A W Morrill condemned a large num
ber of boxes of scale infested Califor

kets. At Creigbton, Harvey Ward, fore

was of the large, non-poiiooous va
riety, but when the wound began to
