Irregularity.. The volume of business
was fair, measured by reoent averages,
and the industrials, as usual, played
atar partB. The market opened dull,
with but few decided ohangeo in other
directions resulting in the initial deal?
ings. Too trading soon assumed a de?
cided tone, and on a comparatively
lighter transaction the entire list moved
upward, handsome gains being made in
the industrials group. Tobacco common
and preferred advanoed 2% per cent,
and other shares fractions. Near the
end of the first hour the traders made a
drive against the market and realizing
sales helped them in their efforts. The
industrials bore the brunt of attaoks.
In the mldafternoon trading covering
of shorts were largely responsible for
sharp advances In Sugar, Tobacco,
Pacific* Mail, Tennessee Coal, Beading,
Delaware and Hudson, Leather Pre?
ferred and Mlnneanolis and St. Louis
second preferred. Ia tbe final dealings
realizing sales caused a noteworthy
